Let's talk astrology! This program will provide a basic overview of Western (tropical) astrology, including the twelve zodiac signs, the four elements and three modalities, the ten traditional planets, and the five major aspects.

This program is a lecture-style PowerPoint presentation with Q&A woven throughout. The focus here is not on "sun sign astrology" (analyzing personalities based simply on the twelve zodiac signs), but rather on gaining a bird's eye view of the larger astrological system, of which sun signs are just one part. You will leave the program with the information you need to look at an astrology chart and decode its many glyphs — the ancient symbols that represent the key foundational concepts of this archetypal language.

As with any language, you won't become fluent in astrology overnight, but you'll leave the program with lots of new vocabulary and a basic understanding of the elegant geometry that underpins the study of astrology.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to look up their natal charts in advance on any number of free websites (for example, astro.com). Although Kate will not have time to provide personalized chart interpretations, you will be invited to apply key concepts to your own chart as we go. (Hard copy or digital is fine.)  You may also want to bring a notebook and pen.

While Astrology 101 is designed with total beginners in mind, some familiarity with the twelve zodiac signs, especially your own sign, is helpful. More intermediate astrology learners may benefit from this jam-packed review of foundational concepts.
